Standing with the Community at the No Kings Rallies

This past Saturday, March 28, 2026, I attended the the No Kings Rallies in Newark and East Orange, joining residents, advocates, and community leaders in standing up for justice, equity, and the voices of our neighborhoods. The energy and passion at the rallies were a powerful reminder of the strength in people power.

I remember protesting Donald Trump’s antics in 2017 in New York City joining thousand as of people who were upset with the status of our country. Yet sadly, here we are again attending another rally to protest against Donald Trump’s lack of clear leadership and vision for America.

This rally reminded me of the responsibility we all share to work together, stand together,  and lift up one another, especially in spaces where voices have historically been unheard. It was encouraging to witness the determination and solidarity of the community, from labor unions to clergy, from students to senior citizens. It reaffirmed our shared commitment to amplifying the issues that matter most to our neighborhoods.

I am grateful to the organizers, participants, and everyone who showed up this past Saturday. Together, we continue to build a community that is stronger, more inclusive, and ready to face challenges with resilience and unity. This is what democracy looks like.
