Standing With Working People: A Conversation With CWA Members in Orange

Yesterday, I had the honor of joining members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 1081 for a membership meeting in the City of Orange Township.

CWA has been an important part of this campaign, of my family, and of my advocacy, and I am deeply grateful for the union’s support. But beyond this campaign, CWA represents something I have always believed in: the dignity of work, the strength of collective action, and the right of working people to have a voice in the decisions that affect their families and communities.

This conversation was especially meaningful to me because I have family members who are part of this union. I have seen firsthand the pride that comes with being a union member and the importance of having a strong organization standing behind working people. I also briefly served as a member of CWA.

CWA members represent hardworking, diverse communities throughout New Jersey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to listen to their experiences, hear their priorities, and share my vision for Essex County.

As I travel throughout District 3, one message continues to come through clearly: people want an Essex County where working families can build a good life, small businesses can grow, young people can find meaningful opportunities, and everyone who works hard has a fair opportunity to succeed.

That is why I value the labor movement and why I am proud to stand with union members. Strong unions help strengthen families, workplaces, and communities. Union labor supported my family, put me through college, and created stability and peace of mind for my working class parents and grandparents.

Thank you to the CWA members who welcomed me yesterday and took the time to speak with me. It was an honor to be in the room, to listen, and to have the opportunity to share why I am running to serve as Essex County Commissioner in District 3.

I am proud to continue earning every vote, one conversation at a time.
