Coming Home: Knocking Doors and Listening to East Orange Neighbors in East Orange’s 4th Ward

There is something especially meaningful about knocking doors in your hometown with your own Councilwoman. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to do just that. I spent time in the City of East Orange, walking through my hometown and meeting with neighbors along Hollywood Avenue toward South Oraton Parkway. Every conversation was another reminder of why local elections matter and why showing up in our communities is so important.

I was proud to be joined by my 4th Ward Councilwoman Tameika Garrett-Ward, District Leader Julio Aponte, and my incredible campaign team as we went door to door, introduced ourselves to residents, listened to their concerns, and talked about the future of Essex County. We met longtime residents who lived in east Orange for over 50 years, first time homebuyers who just moved to EO, and renters who were happy to see us ring their bells.
Behind every door is a different story that I enjoy uncovering when we knock to ask for support. Those conversations are what make this work meaningful, and I enjoy meeting my neighbors to ask for their support as homegrown candidate for County Commissioner District 3.
East Orange helped shape who I am, and I never take for granted the opportunity to walk these streets, meet my neighbors, and hear directly from the people who call this city home.
As we get closer to Election Day, I remain committed to earning every vote across District 3. Whether I am in East Orange, Orange, South Orange, or Newark, I believe the best campaigns are built the same way strong communities are built: by showing up, listening, and bringing people together. People want to be heard. They want representatives that are reliable, accessible, and transparent. I strive to be that person everyday to show our residents that I am working hard to earn their trust and their votes.
Thank you to Councilwoman Garrett-Ward, District Leader Aponte, and my incredible team, and thank you to every East Orange neighbor who opened the door and took the time to have a conversation.
There is still work to do, and I’m going to keep sowing up. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and early voting starts October 24, 2026.
