Visiting the East Orange Senior Building in the First Ward

This week, I had the pleasure of talking with our Seniors in East Orange’s first ward. It was a meaningful opportunity to connect with residents, hear their stories, and learn more about the issues that matter most to seniors in our community, including affordability, safety, and high quality services.

I am always overjoyed when I talk with our seniors. They are full of wisdom that I love to take in. Our conversations ranged from neighborhood improvements and accessible services to the importance of social programs that support seniors’ health, mobility, and quality of life. These interactions reinforced my commitment to ensuring that every resident, especially our seniors, feel heard, valued, and supported.

Visits like these are reminders that community engagement isn’t just about policies or programs, it’s about listening, learning, and building relationships. I am grateful for the time residents shared with me and for the chance to discuss ways to continue improving services, resources, and opportunities for seniors in East Orange. I can not wait to return back to their building for a game of bingo and some fun dance moves with our Silver Steppers.
