Memorial Day: Honoring the Sacrifice of Our Fallen Heroes 

This Memorial Day weekend, I had the privilege of joining in commemorating our fallen heroes throughout District 3, honoring the brave servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.

For me, these moments are filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the lives of those who served selflessly, gratitude for the families who carry the weight of their sacrifice, and gratitude for the opportunity to stand alongside our communities in remembrance and reflection.

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who gave their lives so that future generations could enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted. It is also a time for communities to come together in unity, remembrance, and appreciation.

I was honored to join Mayor Dwayne Warren and members of the Orange City Council as we laid flags and wreaths at memorial sites throughout Orange to recognize and remember residents who served our nation. These acts of remembrance serve as important symbols of respect and appreciation for those who answered the call to serve.

I also attended a Memorial Day breakfast in East Orange that paid tribute to our local heroes and veterans. It was inspiring to see residents, families, veterans, and community leaders gather together to reflect on the meaning of service and sacrifice.

In South Orange, I participated in a moving Memorial Day program held at Memorial Rock in Meadowland Park. The ceremony provided another meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect, and honor the memory of those who gave everything for our country.

As we commemorate Memorial Day, we must continue to uplift and support our veterans, military families, and the communities connected to their service. Their sacrifices should never be forgotten, and their legacy must continue to inspire future generations.

I am grateful to all of the organizers, elected officials, veterans organizations, and community members who helped make these events meaningful and impactful. Together, we reaffirmed our commitment to honoring the lives and sacrifices of our fallen heroes.
