Sierra Club Endorses Medinah Muhammad for Essex County Commissioner

I am proud to announce that I have been endorsed by the Sierra Club’s Gateway Group of the New Jersey Chapter in the November general election for Essex County Commissioner.

This endorsement is especially meaningful because protecting our environment is about more than preserving beautiful open spaces — it is about protecting the health, safety, and quality of life of Essex County residents.

What remains certain is that our environment is changing, and that has been evidenced in our most recent storm that created flooding along the Jersey Shore. From flooding and extreme heat to clean air, sustainable transportation, accessible green spaces, and responsible development, environmental issues affect our communities every day. As a candidate for Essex County Commissioner, I believe we must approach these challenges with an environmental justice lens and make sure that every resident — regardless of their ZIP code — can live in a healthy and safe community.

I am grateful to the Sierra Club’s Gateway Group for recognizing my commitment to these issues and for their partnership in building a more sustainable Essex County.

As I continue meeting residents across District 3, I am listening to the concerns that matter most to our communities and bringing those voices with me on the campaign trail. I look forward to working with environmental advocates and residents across Essex County to protect our natural resources, strengthen our communities, and build a healthier future for generations to come.

Thank you to the Sierra Club for your support and your work to protect our environment. I am honored to have your endorsement.
